(1917-2005)

José Manuel Moraña was an Argentinian painter born in 1917 who obtained scholarships to train in Paris, Mexico and Madrid.

His relationship with some surrealist artists awakened his interest in the movement, within which he worked with a technique he called “innocent automatism.” His compositions prioritized the gaze and the eyes, as well as the figures of birds and bulls. He taught for many years and even served as Rector of the National School of Fine Arts.

He died in 2005.
